Have you read the Twilight series?
Just wondering how many people have scarred their youth.
Yeah, consider my youth scarred.
Good story or not, I'm ticked off at it. The writing sends out the message that "You too can have a bestselling 'well-written' series if you write with purple prose, flat characters, plot holes, and a vampire or two," when that is clearly wrong (no disrespect to SMeyer as a human being). It bothers me to my core that thousands upon thousands of young adult readers who haven't had a chance to experience proper writing now think that this is the was books are supposed to be, and it could screw the world's literature for a very long time. I'm fourteen, and I realize this. Why do English teachers not see the same thing?
