Passion is something that 11-year old David Witthoft has plenty of. David, a Green Bay Packer fan, has worn his Brett Favre football jersey every day for the last 4-years. That is right. David has worn the jersey he received as a Christmas present in 2003 each and every day. David wore the jersey for almost 4-years before he even attended a Packer's football game and plans to wear the jersey into 2008.

Passion can be defined as a "strong liking for or devotion to some activity, object or concept.

The Wright Brothers had the passion of flight and today we can fly from coast to coast in great comfort in about 6-hours or so. Jonas Salk had a passion for seeing the disease of polio being wiped out and today we no longer fear this horrible disease. Henry Ford had a passion for the mass manufacture of a relatively new mode of transportation called the motor car and started a new industrial age.

We are called to be passionate followers of Jesus, devoted to the concept, object, and activity of Christ. Our passion for Christ is meant to transform the world around us. Let us commit this year to finding our passion and helping our part of the world become a better place.

Here is to the passion of David as we enter into 2008; the passion of 11-year old David and the passion of the Biblical David. And if you are concerned about the smell of David's jersey; well, don't be! His mom washes it every other day.
